Even when you don’t have time to make a fresh loaf of homemade bread, you can still serve delicious, warm slices of bread with your meal. It only takes a few minutes! All you need is a loaf of good Italian bread, a clove of garlic, some olive oil, and, if you like, a few sprigs of fresh parsley.

Once you assemble everything, pop it in the oven for a few minutes while you set the table or finish preparing the rest of the meal. Crispy, warm, flavorful bread straight from the oven—what could be better?

Garlic toast goes well with just about any Italian meal. Use it to sop up extra sauce from pasta dishes or to accompany roast chicken, a bowl of risotto, or a hearty salad.

If you really like garlic, feel free to increase the amount of garlic in this recipe. You can even use butter instead of olive oil or sprinkle on some Parmigiano-Reggiano for extra flavor.

Besides being delicious and wonderfully aromatic, this garlic toast also offers some excellent health benefits. Olive oil, of course, provides plenty of omega-3s, or healthy fatty acids.

Garlic has immune-boosting and anti-infection properties, aids in the absorption of essential nutrients, and even helps prevent cancer, among many other benefits.
