“I left Radda in Chianti this morning on the 7 a.m. coach and I arrived in Montepulciano around 11:30 a.m. Last night, I couldn’t sleep for excitement,” scrawled Nonna Gabriella in her diary on September 10th, 1955. She was traveling to this “foreign place,” as she described it, for a handicraft exhibition, but little did she know it would be a life-changing trip on which she’d meet her future husband. Since then, the grandparents of 18 (!!) have lived out a common dream of working their own farm, and staying true to local products and their home region, Tuscany.

This month, not only will we be sharing Gabriella’s journal-preserved story, but also delivering to your door six hard-to-come-by gourmet Italian products, and, of course, three box-inspired recipes and their wine pairings.

Speaking of what’s in the much-anticipated upcoming box, it’s time to tackle two more products. We couldn’t take you to Tuscany without trying some of its famous extra virgin olive oil. Your box’s oil — with its aromas of artichokes and herbs — is freshly made from a blend of olives harvested from Chianti Classico orchards.

On the sweeter side is a classic Siena treat, panpepato, the spiced and chocolatey cake-like bread that is traditionally eaten during the holidays. We think Mother’s Day is plenty reason enough to unwrap this decadent present, though, and we’re sure you’ll agree.

Speaking of Mothers Day, be sure to pre-order by May 3rd to reserve a Nonna Box in time for holiday delivery — quantities are limited!

A presto,
