This versatile, garlicky seasoning is so easy to make and equally simple to use! Just measure all of the ingredients into a jar and shake it up, and you have a perfect all-purpose Italian seasoning.

If you have a shaker with large holes like you might use for Parmesan or red pepper flakes, this is perfect for storing your homemade garlic seasoning, as it makes it easy to sprinkle the mix on whatever you want it on.

Otherwise, you can simply store it in the jar you mix it up in. It keeps for as long as the Parmesan is good, or up to six to nine months.

But what can you do with this flavorful garlic seasoning? Perhaps the most obvious option is garlic bread:

  1. Spread butter or brush olive oil onto thick slices of French bread,
  2. generously sprinkle with garlic seasoning,
  3. and place under the broiler until golden brown and crispy.

Other uses include stirring into tomato sauce, sprinkling onto roasted vegetables or chicken, or livening up mashed potatoes. It also makes a wonderful gift—just fill a small canning jar with the seasoning and decorate it with ribbon and a handmade label with some usage suggestions.

You likely have all of the ingredients on hand already, but if not, head to the bulk section of your local grocery store to pick up the necessary herbs.

Scooping them into your own containers may not be as convenient as grabbing a shaker off the shelf, but it’s significantly cheaper and, because there’s no packaging to throw out once it’s empty, better for the environment!
